Covid-19 Worries Rise Among Americans: Poll

Gallup found that 30% of people said that the pandemic was getting worse during a survey conducted Aug. 29-Sept. 5. It’s a large jump from the 5% of people who reported the same in the previous survey from late May and early June.

It’s also the highest rate of pessimism about the pandemic reported in over a year. It comes as new weekly COVID-19 hospital admissions topped 20,500 the first full week in September.

While the current COVID-19 increases are small compared to previous waves of the virus, the trends are noteworthy heading into the fall and winter seasons for the U.S., when circulation of respiratory viruses tends to increase.
